Another busy week at ELR this week.

We met with Cancer Research UK about their Race for Life Events 2014. We will be partnering with them to support their first Race For Life event this year, in Victoria Park on 28th June. ELR will be there on the day too. It is a womens only event with two runs; one 5k and one 10k. For anyone interested in signing up please click here.

We have 4 new volunteers this week incredibly interested in planning an oral history project for ELR.

Mel from the Culture Hour chatted with the locum curator Celine McDaid at Dr Johnsons House this week. Dr Johnsons House is in the heart of London and was his home while he wrote his famous dictionary which took him only 9 years. The French dictionary took 40! East London Radio will also be returning to the Shuffle Festival which is happening at the end of July 2014. We will keep you updated on locations and times etc.

Our Sports N All presenter Steven Porter  went along to the Canary Wharf Sports Awards this week and it was fantastic to see all the community sports teams and young people celebrating in their success. The awards encourage sporting excellence and participation in East London and the event was attended by over 300 local sports people and administrators as well as a range of local dignitaries, including Tower Hamlets Speaker of the Council Lesley Pavitt; Councillor Gloria Theinel; Chief Executive and Head Coach of London Lions, Vince Macaulay and Co-Chairman of West Ham Football Club, David Gold. To get in touch with Steven about contributing to the sports show, email sport@eastlondonradio.org.uk

We are helping with the “St Clement’s: Workhouse to Our House” exhibition 22
