As part of their Citizenship GCSE controlled assessment, a group of year 11 students from Willowfield Humanities College were examining the issue of poverty in Walthamstow. They have been working closely with Christian Kitchen and supported the work of this charity by taking part in a discussion show with ELR. They were interviewed in school alongside their teachers, and we were delighted to work with them to discuss important issues –
Christian Kitchen – The aim of this was to discuss solutions to the amount of people living in poverty and also to contribute to the campaign to allow the mobile food kitchen to stay in their current location.
Loan Sharks – The pupils also discussed their concerns about the prolific number of high street money lenders and betting shops in our town and the effect that these have on our local population.
